Are You Living in Default Mode?
Default mode isn’t always big, dramatic rebellion.
Most of the time, it looks like a life that’s busy, but not full. Moving, but not really alive.
Here are some signs you might be living in default instead of design:

Everything feels urgent.
Your to-do list is running you. There’s a constant sense of “I can’t slow down or it will all fall apart.” -
Your pace is frantic.
You’re hustling, multitasking, and pushing through… but peace feels far away. -
You can’t hear God clearly.
You know He’s there, but the noise, notifications, and expectations are louder than His voice. -
Your emotions feel really loud.
Anxiety, anger, grief, insecurity — they’re all turned up to 10, and it’s hard to find your footing. -
Joy feels out of reach.
It seems like joy is for everyone else. You’re tired of being told to “just choose joy” when you’re barely hanging on. -
You’re exhausted, but you still can’t rest.
Even when you stop, your mind doesn’t. Rest feels impossible or unearned. -
You catch yourself performing for approval.
You wouldn’t call it “performing,” but you’re constantly trying to earn someone’s love, attention, or validation. -
You feel disconnected from yourself.
You don’t quite feel like you anymore. You’re going through the motions, but you’re not sure who you are beneath them. -
Your spiritual life feels like a checklist.
You’re doing the “right things,” but it feels more like a task list than a relationship with God.
This isn’t about calling you out. It’s about calling you back—to the intentional, hand-crafted design God had in mind when He made you.You weren’t created for autopilot. You were intentionally designed to live awake to God’s presence in your everyday life.
